Writing from non-laptop-land!

queelezOn Saturday, my hard drive finally gave out. I realized that the weirdness I thought was just bad luck were the signs of it going under. I'm still under warrenty, though, and Dell's sending me a new one. Should be here later this week.
Of course, I'll need to jump through some hoops to get my old data back, but it's possible. Definitely gonna ask for an external drive for Christmas.
Anyway, random thoughts:
Play practice began yesterday. All is going pretty well; we had a basic read-through. Good group all around, I think, and a couple of my friends are in it that I didn't know were.
I sat in on a game of DnD tonight. Might wanna give that another try. Definitely gave me some story-related ideas.
Midterms are done. Yesssss.
Unfortunatly, it doesn't look like I can be the Doctor for Halloween. If I can order something online that'll come in time, I'll be my own steampunk-esque character. Otherwise, I'm gonna be Arthur Dent--have a bathrobe and towel, walk around, and look very confused. (What I do anyway, minus the bathrobe).
Heroes continues to be miles better than the last season. Hiro is back to being funny and kickass, and I want to bear Daphne's speed demon babies.
I bought "Professor Layton and the Curious Village." It's fun, but frustrating because I am right and it is wrong.
Request for LJ peeps: Can somebody give me a detailed explanation of how to perform cuts? I really should know. There's something that's pissing me off--don't remember what--and it'll be nice to semi-mask it.
